John was born in 1947 in the Midlands, where he grew up. He moved to Cornwall in 1969 and has been painting since then.
“Over the years I’ve enjoyed and been influenced by the work of many artists, the Impressionists Monet and Turner in particular, whose atmospheric paintings had a great impact on me and my work. Nature also influences me a great deal of course, and all life, with its light and shade, it’s strength and frailness, storms and calms which amaze and fascinate me.
I love to paint the things that affect me most, visually and emotionally. The World around us is a wonderful place; I just try to get that message across with paint.”
